How it works

Bluberry was designed around a constraint most connected-yard products ignore: the irrigation system is already in the ground, and nobody wants to dig up a finished lawn to modernize it.
The primary controller
Installs beside the existing irrigation controller. A voltage monitor watches each station terminal, so the moment the controller energizes a zone, Bluberry knows which zone is running and for how long — without replacing the homeowner's controller or reprogramming their schedule.
The existing sprinkler wire
Control signals ride the station wire that already runs from the controller to the valve box, using a powerline modem at each end. That wire is the communication channel. Nothing is trenched, and nothing depends on a wireless signal reaching a metal valve box under the lawn.
The secondary controller
Sits at the valve assembly and drives the relays. It opens the station valve for the zone and, in coordination, opens a tank valve that injects a measured dose of treatment into the main line — so the product goes exactly where the water goes.
Why the wire matters
The cheapest install is the one that's already done.
Every competing approach to automating outdoor treatment runs into the same wall: getting control signals and product to the far corners of a property costs money, permits, and a torn-up lawn.

The system architecture — using the existing sprinkler wire to coordinate a primary and secondary controller for chemical injection — is covered by U.S. Patent 12,336,530, "Chemigation system," granted June 24, 2025 and running to April 2044.
Treatment programs are delivered with qualified partners and applied in accordance with product labeling and applicable licensing requirements. Installation is performed by trained professionals. Availability of specific treatment programs varies by jurisdiction.
